here is the FANTASTIC view from the top (rim of crater) during my recon ride Tanauan Batangas to Tagaytay City...85kilometers...one of the most difficult stages of the Masters Cup races held in the Philippines...thats my daughter RA with dad bisekleta_guy...exhausted but happy to reach the top. the view is that of TAAL VOLCANO...smallest active volcano in the world...

Greetings.
I'm glad to see that cycling is alive and well in PI. I was there this past summer and there was a big race in Bagio (?). When and were did your race take place?

hello jared,

there are two ways to reach the site..easy route is rolling hills 60kilometers from manila going south...hardest route is from south Tanauan batangas going up tagaytay city (official race route for cycling races including elimination for the Tour of Luzon professional bike race )35 kilometers of mostly uphill climbing...no downhill...the route takes cyclist around the ancient rim of the gigantic mouth of the volcano (where we stand isnt a safe place once the volcano blow it's top...)...the small volcano seen on the lake is but the small mouth of this ancient volcano...water filled the original crater of this volcano ages ago...hence a lake had formed...search TAAL VOLCANO to find more information from the web

daughter RA rides a mountain bike too...however as i only have ONE child...i cant take that risk of having two cyclists in the family...she is the university campus beauty queen...You are right...the view is SPECTACULAR...but the climbing is back breaking...
